Ranya was born in the small village of Karmai, a rough tribal village in the Northern Jute tribal lands. Growing up, she learned to fend for herself in the mountainous wilderness outside the village. As a young child, she realized she could see things others could not, and the village shaman declared that she was god-touched, with the ability to perceive the spirits that resided on the other side of the mystic veil. She was named ‘Godseye’ for this trait.

When she was 12, a vile monster invaded her village, and nearly every able warrior in the village fell to its horrible evil. It killed all in her family except her mother, whose mind had unravelled watching the family disappear into the headman’s residence, where it had make its lair. Weeks later, a strong party of adventurers came to Karmai, passing through. Ranya aided them, pleading for their help and giving them valuable information which helped them kill the monster.

Once the creature was dead, Ranya decided that Karmai had far to many bad memories, and she begged the group to take her with them. The rogue in the party, a Tengu named Blue Beak agreed to take the girl under his wing, train her, and protect her until such a time as she could protect herself.

She now travels with the Wheel Breakers, tending their steeds and keeping watch, as well as helping them with other chores around the camp, as they cross the continent upon their mission to save the world.

Ranya has a pupil’s crush on Blue Beak, and in her mind he can do no wrong. It seems that she also has found a way to wrap the old bird around her little finger, for he passionately and devotedly protects her, and even takes her side in arguments, seemingly ignoring the youthful and naive perspective that only a twelve year old possesses.

Ranya has recently had a near-death experience, when fighting Katyiana the half-fiend. Her spirit actually crossed the border between life and death, and as a result, she periodically sees the spirits of the dead, who offer cryptic and sometimes infuriating “advice.” This expands on her Spirit Sense background trait, and has no in-game statistics, but is used for role-playing and DM tomfoolery (and hints).

While in Shenliang, Ranya witnessed an attack by several ninja, and set out to learn more about their ways. She discovered a small monastery of White Snake ninja, and was accepted into their ranks. She has been allowed to continue her adventuring by her masters, and Ranya has not disclosed exactly what her duties or obligations to the White Snakes are, or what payment arrangements she made with them for her training.
