Ability Hero Token Burns

[Harmless] means the DM doesn’t get the token; [Risky] means the DM does.

Find Item [Harmless] 7 Tokens Burned

By burning 7 hero tokens, you can receive one common magic item of your level +1 or lower. This item will be placed in an upcoming adventure, or perhaps you will be able to purchase such an item (and still pay the purchase price) while visiting an appropriate city. Spending the tokens ensures that such an item will be available. You must consult with the DM regarding the form and nature of the item you receive. You may only receive one magical item via Find Item every 4 levels, rounding up.

Improvement [Harmless] One Token burnt, equal to the score you are going to

By burning hero tokens, you may permanently raise an ability score by 1 point. The cost is one token per point of the ability score your are raising. For instance, if you raise your Intelligence score from 12 to 13, you would burn 13 hero tokens. You may only raise an ability score once every 5 levels, rounding up. You may raise up to six ability scores every 5 levels, however.

Inner Calm [Harmless] 2 Tokens Burned

You may burn two tokens to add 1d6 Sanity points to your current score. You may raise your Sanity above your starting score. You may never raise your current score higher than your maximum score. You may only burn these tokens if you have specifically rested and meditated, calming yourself and contemplating the horrors you have seen. You must do this for at least one week, with no adventuring, work, labor or other interruptions. Once you have rested, you may burn the tokens. You may choose to burn tokens on your “Inner Calm” no more than once per six months.

Make Contact [Harmless] 2 Tokens Burned

A player may “Make Contacts” by burning 2 Hero Tokens to convert any friend (on whom they previously used 2 Hero Tokens to “Make Friends”). This friend will stick around, and become one of the three types of Contacts, or perhaps even become a henchman.

I Like You

A player may burn 4 hero tokens to acquire a patron. This person would be introduced into the character’s life perhaps during an adventure, and who (by the expenditure of hero tokens) takes a liking to the character, enough to provide certain support or aid.

Renaissance Man [Harmless] 8 Tokens Burned

By burning 8 tokens, you may gain one bonus feat. This feat may be from any available list, but you must meet all prerequisites for the chosen feat. You may only purchase one such feat for every 8 character levels, rounding up.

Score Item [Harmless] 10 Tokens Burned

By burning 7 hero tokens, you can receive one uncommon magic item of your level +1 or lower. This item will be placed in an upcoming adventure, or perhaps you will be able to purchase such an item (and still pay the purchase price) while visiting an appropriate city. Spending the tokens ensures that such an item will be available. You must consult with the DM regarding the form and nature of the item you receive. You may only receive one magical item via Score Item every 6 levels, rounding up.

Skills Training [Harmless] 2 Tokens Burned

You may Burn 2 tokens to attain +1 competence bonus to any skill.

Toughen Up [Harmless] 2 Tokens Burned

Burn 2 tokens after rolling your Hit Points. You may roll again – if it comes up as less than half again, round it up to half. (If you’re rolling a d10 or d12, round up to 2/3 instead.) Also, ignore any negative Constitution modifiers on this re-roll. You may use this benefit repeatedly if you continue to be unhappy with the roll.
