Casting Time: 10 minutes
Target: 1 or more individuals
Duration: Permanent (special)
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: No
This Ritual can only be cast by an ascended high priest (see Ascension ). This ritual creates a bond of initiation between the recipient and the deity they worship, which must be the same as the high priest performing the ritual. At the time of the ritual, the deity will call their attention on the perspective initiates and will deem them either worthy or unworthy. If the ritual is a success, and the recipient is found worthy, they will become initiated. Recipients of the initiation must be willing.
Those who are initiated gain access to certain closed feats, spells, and rituals that are specific to their deity. Initiation is required for a cleric or priest to access spells, domains, and granted abilities. Initiation may also be a prerequisite to certain prestige classes. Any initiate ay lend their support in the casting of a divine ritual by a caster who is initiated to their same deity.
For those who do not become holy divine casters, the ritual grants the initiate a bonus divine feat. They must take this feat immediately if one is available for them to take. If not then they gain the bonus feat when they reach a sufficient character level for a divine feat to become available. In addition, such initiates gain a second bonus divine feat at level 9. Again, clerics, priests, holy warriors and other divine classes do not gain these feats.
Initiation can be removed voluntarily at the time of a loss of a Gift, and is otherwise permanent. The only two rituals which can remove initiation are Divestment and Purge. Of course, an offended deity may sever the link at any time. The offense must be flagrant and against the tenets of the god.
