Olympian Favor Point System

This only applies to followers of the Olympian Gods… However, visitors to Io and other places where these gods might become offended should watch their actions, lest they suffer the wrath of the gods.

Players can assign 10 favor points among the various Gods at first level. You may only use favor powers from three gods at any one time, selected at character creation, and changeable at any temple. If you get the same bonus from multiple Gods, such as two Gods giving you a bonus to Will saves, they do not stack. You gain an automatic bonus to knowledge (religion) checks concerning your favored God(s) equal to (favor points/4). All spell-like abilities are of a CL equal to your character level, and uses the ability listed at 10 favor points to determine its save DC, if applicable.

If two beings who are both favored by the same god are opposing each other, the one with fewer favor points loses all their powers from that god during that encounter. A God will not support both sides in a battle

The DM may also arbitrate various events depending on your favor with a God. For example, if your favor with Poseidon is abysmal, maybe it’s best to travel on land for now.

Things that influence favor:
-Sacrifice: May be performed once per day per God. A sacrifice takes 10 minutes to properly execute. A sacrifice worth 10g will net you 1 favor point, 100g will get you 2, 1000g 3, etc. Sacrifices between 1 and 10gp will not get you favor points, but will count as sacrificing for the purposes of Failure to Sacrifice; see below.
-Build a Temple or Monument: A 500g monument or temple takes a day’s work and gives 8 favor points. A 3,000g temple takes a week’s work and gives 20 favor points, and can only be done in a populated area.
-Killing someone hated by the God: Killing a person or creature despised by a God will get your favor points equal to half their hit dice, rounded up. This does not apply to Demeter or Dionysus.
-Failure to Sacrifice: If you have a positive favor point total with a God and don’t sacrifice to them for a week, you will lose a favor point per week. There can be extenuating circumstances for this; Apollo will understand if you’re trapped in the Labyrinth of Minos for two weeks and don’t have anything to burn on a pyre for him.
-Gain a level: -1 to all God’s favor points. A mortal’s power and accomplishments lead to hubris, which the Gods love to punish.
-Dishonorably killing someone beloved of the God: If you kill someone needlessly, or excessively brutally, you lose favor equal to half their hit dice, rounded up. This does not apply to Ares or Hades. Example: massacring Trojans is a great way to get Poseidon to hate you.
-Rule X: Different Gods love and hate different things. Certain actions may cause you to gain or lose favor points with a God, up to the DM’s discretion. Ares might love a particularly glorious battle, but Dionysus couldn’t care less; he’d probably appreciate a debauched feast in his honor, though.

10: +2 to all Strength-based checks.
20: +1 insight bonus to damage rolls.
30: Cause Fear 1/day.
50: You may use the previous ability 3/day, and you gain Rage (the spell) 1/day.

Artemis

Favored Weapon: Shortbow

Athena
