Smriti's Journal Entry 11

swimming… why I thought that I could be of any use swimming, I will never know. It was just after I finished my earlier journal and all of the sudden, the peace of the early morning was broken by a kelp monster rising from the water. It snagged Iz and Dorak pretty much before we noticed it. As the water was about 10 feet below the party was hard-pressed to do anything. I had my spear, and managed a couple good pokes, but the Ignatius pretty much saved the night with his blades of Tinel. But it was too late for Iz. The monster tried to carry her away. This was when something got in me to try and save her. Forget the fact that I swim only a bit better than your average rock.. First I leapt across the dock and landed nicely in one of the adels, but Iz was already to deep for me to reach her from the boat, so in I went. The water was unspeakably dirty. I am grateful that I am immune to any disease that may have been floating in there. I did manage to find Iz, not that I was of any good to her. At the end, we were both caught in the grate that lead to the open water. I broke my leg rather severely, but thankfully managed to get out of the water to get some healing. And I think the fact that I was injured and Iz nearly drowned actually saved us from any more trouble. So now we sit in the entryway of the port authority getting warm, and cleaned up as possible waiting for the dawn. I am glad for the magical cleaning that I can get from Crisos, and others, But it really holds no to candle to a good bath. I really hope that a bath is not TOO far off. On another different, yet related note, I really need to learn how to swim…
